1. President Moon Jae-in and President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev exchanged celebratory letters on March 23 to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Bulgaria.
2. President Moon welcomed the continued expansion of cooperation between the two countries in a range of areas, including political, economic, social, and cultural affairs, on the basis of firm trust since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1990. In particular, President Moon noted with appreciation that cooperation in the nuclear power plant and agricultural sectors is increasing through the recent robust high-level exchanges.
o In addition, President Moon expressed hope that the two countries will continue to further advance their “Comprehensive and Future-oriented Partnership.”
3. President Radev welcomed the steady development of the ROK-Bulgaria relations based on shared values and mutual trust for the past 30 years, and took note that the two countries have been deepening cooperation in various areas, including economic affairs, energy, and education.
o Furthermore, President Radev positively noted that the two countries are working together successfully on the global stage, and said that Bulgaria will also exert efforts to make substantive progress in the ROK-EU Strategic Partnership.
4. Under the “MOU on Cooperation on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the ROK and the Republic of Bulgaria” signed last year, the two countries will hold a variety of events this year, including cultural events, lectures on Korean food, and cultural exhibitions.
