1. The Public-Private Research Team on Trade, Investment and Infrastructure, led by Choo Jong-youn,
Director-General for Latin American and Caribbean Affairs, visited Guyana on July 10-13.
ο The Research Team comprised officials from the Foreign Ministry; the Korea Importers Association;
Korea Resources Corporation; the International Contractors Association of Korea; and Daejoo KC Group.
2. The Research Team met with President Jagdeo; Prime Minister Hinds; Foreign Minister Rodrigues-
Birkett; Transport Minister Benn; and other relevant high-ranking officials of Guyana to discuss the current
situation on the Korean peninsula; cooperation on the international stage; and projects involving energy,
agriculture and infrastructure construction aimed at expanding economic and trade ties between Korea
and Guyana.
3. The Team took a tour of energy, agricultural and infrastructure-construction project sites, which provided
an opportunity to deliberate on substantive-investment possibilities in the country.
4. The visit to Guyana by the Public-Private Research Team on Trade, Investment and Infrastructure, part
of follow-up measures to the April 2010 Korea-Guyana Summit agreement on bolstering economic and
trade ties, is expected to help enhance substantive cooperation between Korea and Guyana through both
joint government efforts and participation of the private sector.
