1. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan, the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Korea successfully hosted a dynamic commemorative event themed “Harmony between Korea and Azerbaijan” in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku on June 21. The event consisted of creatively combined drum beats, b-boy dances, Korea’s traditional dance fusioned with b-boy dance, and Pansori (traditional Korean music) fusioned with beat box.

The event, co-hosted by the ROK Embassy in Azerbaijan and SEBA(Azerbaijan-Korean Cultural Exchange Association) at Heydar Aliyev Sarayi Palace, one of the most prestigious cultural venues in Baku, was attended by about 2,000 people, including Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, political figures, businessmen, academics, people from the culture industry, Azerbaijani citizens and university students, as well as Ambassadors of major countries, diplomatic corps, officials of foreign companies, and Koreans living in Azerbaijan.
3. The performances showcased both traditional and modern aspects of Korean culture, while highlighting harmony between the ROK and Azerbaijan. In particular, Korea’s folk song “Arirang” sung by performance groups from the two countries in the finale of the show perfectly expressed harmony between cultures and arts of the two countries, making the 20th anniversary more meaningful.
4. Lee Ji-ha, the ROK’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, stressed that the relations between the ROK and Azerbaijan will be further strengthened based on 20 years of friendship. He also commented that the event themed “Harmony between Korea and Azerbaijan” will contribute to building more trust with each other.
