1. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations with Paraguay and Argentina, the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Korea will send Jo Su-mi, a world-renowned soprano and cultural PR diplomat, to the two countries for joint performances with their leading singers and symphony orchestras.
2. In the concert to take place in the Paraguayan capital of Asuncion on August 29 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ROK-Paraguay diplomatic relations, Jo Su-mi will perform with the Paraguay National Orchestra and Paraguayan tenor Jose Mongeles as well as David Lee, a 1.5-generation ROK-Paraguayan pianist.
3. Jo Su-mi will then perform at Teatro Colon, one of the world’s top three theaters, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on September 3 together with the theater’s symphony orchestra and Argentina’s famous opera singer Dario Schmunck. On the following day, Jo will take part as one of the judges in an international singing contest at Teatro Colon, and thereby contribute to promoting the excellence of K-classical music across the world.
4. The upcoming concerts, where top musicians of the ROK, Paraguay and Argentina will perform in unity and harmony, are expected to serve as a good opportunity to promote K-classical music in Paraguay and Argentina, where K-pop and Korean soap operas are gaining popularity.
