1. On January 26, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se spoke by phone with Foreign Ministers Mankeur Ndiaye and Murray McCully of Senegal and New Zealand, members of the UN Security Council, and discussed ways for the Security Council to respond to North Korea’s fourth nuclear test.
2. Minister Yun noted with appreciation that Minister Ndiaye himself strongly condemned North Korea’s fourth nuclear test. Given the seriousness of the issue, Minister Yun requested that Senegal, as a member of the Security Council, play an active role in adopting a strong and comprehensive Security Council sanctions resolution.

3. In his conversation with Minister McCully, Minister Yun took note that immediately after North Korea’s fourth nuclear test, New Zealand released a statement strongly condemning the nuclear test and urging North Korea not to engage in further provocations. Minister Yun also asked New Zealand to show leadership in adopting a strong and effective Security Council resolution.
