1. The ninth “Korea-Arab Friendship Caravan” event will take place in Sudan, Egypt, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from mid October to early November, hosted by the Korea-Arab Society (KAS) with the support of the Foreign Ministry.
2. The Korea-Arab Friendship Caravan is a signature civilian public diplomacy event held on an annual basis since 2008 to promote Korean culture and arts in the Arab world. During this cultural exchange between the Republic of Korea and the Arab world, Korean culture is introduced to the Arabs and efforts are made for them to have a correct understanding and view of the ROK.
3. This year’s event will feature performances of traditional Korean dances such as the fan dance and the “Jindo” drum dance by the Gyeonggi Provincial Traditional Music Orchestra, as well as a Marionette performance by “Expression Crew,” a b-boy troupe.
4. The Caravan event will offer Arabs, who have become interested in the ROK through Hallyu, whose main components are K-pop and Korean soap operas, a chance to experience Korean culture. Furthermore, it will serve as an opportunity to widely promote the ROK in the Arab world and thereby to enhance the ROK’s national image.
