1. At the 34th meeting of its Passport Policy Commission, the Foreign Ministry reviewed whether to extend the travel bans on Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Afghanistan and part of the Philippines – the Zamboanga Peninsula, the Sulu archipelago, Basilan and the Tawi-Tawi Islands.
※ Travel bans are imposed on certain countries or regions pursuant to Article 17 of the Passport Act.
2. At the meeting, judging that the political instability, poor public security situation and terrorism risks are likely to continue in the six aforementioned countries and the areas in the Philippines for quite some time, the Foreign Ministry decided to keep the travel bans to the countries and the regions in place for another six months until January 31, 2018.
